A Rock, A River, A Tree

At twilight I awoke to press coffee—it was 6AM and 35 degrees. Everyone else was still warm in their sleeping bags, missing out on what was unfolding outside.

The sun peeking over Mount Bachelor to the east signaled a return of warmth to my face, the face of South Sister, and finally my fingers.

Deer were swimming out to the marshes to munch on grasses while ospreys and baldies dived for fish (look closely, and you can see a single eagle perched on the tallest pine).
