Pictures from last week's trip to Newberry State Hospital
Thank you Ekoh for an amazing trip. You're the best. Be on the look out for her photos. They'll probably be online next year or something.
Mine will gradually creep onto dA.
Some non-abandonment stuff is in the works. I promise.
Peace!

Colorful Squares Feature, part XXXXIV
I'm not sure if this has been said yet, but I'm sure many are thinking it either way.
I think we can all agree that square photos can be great. It takes some ingenuity to accomplish a successful rule-of-thirds composition within that 3x3 frame. And when it works, it's a beautiful thing. There is a certain... natural, nostalgic aesthetic about it. Since the passing of Polaroid it has gained even more new found appreciation.
A frame full of just one vibrant color can be visually interesting, too. It will really stand out on it's own. Arrange dozens of them on one page, however, and it's difficult to appreciate originality of just one, because
The Waking
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I have to go.
We think by feeling. What is there to know?
I hear my being dance from ear to ear.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
Of those so close beside me, which are you?
God bless the Ground! I shall walk softly there,
And learn by going where I have to go.
Light takes the Tree; but who can tell us how?
The lowly worm climbs up a winding stair;
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
Great Nature has another thing to do
To you and me, so take the lively air,
And, lovely, learn by going where to go.
This shaking

That's really cool, I had no idea that place even existed, yet it's only a little over an hour away from me. You definitely got some great photos from your trip.
Also, I'm really glad you included a Flash Earth screenshot in that post. I'd never heard of Flash Earth before, but I checked it out and it's got imagery of some areas that I'd never seen imagery of before. I've already found a bunch of places I plan on checking out for photographs.
